This image was captured in March by apiculture specialist Jennifer Tsuruda, after unusual winter weather led to some plants flowering earlier than usual. The different colors of pollen reflect different species of plants in bloom. A week and a half later, the pollen appeared more typical but still diverse — a combination of yellows, oranges and browns.
