The couple\u00a0are stand-out licensed\u00a0professional engineers\u00a0who found their\u00a0route to Clemson by\u00a0way of high school\u00a0internships, which also\u00a0set into motion a path\u00a0to each other.<br \/>\nAs an exam\u00a0development engineer\u00a0for <a href=\"http:\/\/ncees.org\">National Council\u00a0of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying<\/a> (NCEES) in Seneca, Jason is one of only five people in the\u00a0country commissioned with managing the creation of 25 national licensing exams that examinees take\u00a0to become licensed in 17 different engineering disciplines. Jason is tasked with managing four of those\u00a025 exams. Hesha serves as county engineer for <a href=\"http:\/\/ncees.org\">Greenville<\/a> where she oversees 77 employees as well as the\u00a0engineering and maintenance of all county roads, approximately 1,760 miles serving 450,000 residents.<br \/>\n\u201cWe take that job very seriously,\u201d said Hesha. \u201cIf there\u2019s a problem, we need to fix it. Greenville is my\u00a0community so of course I want the best for my community.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve never had a job that didn\u2019t affect people in some way,\u201d chimed in Jason. \u201cWhat I do now at NCEES\u00a0affects the future of the profession and affects what (engineering) is going to be for the next generation.\u201d<br \/>\nEven beyond technical skills, the pair says honing soft skills like communication and public speaking\u00a0prepares their teams to execute a project efficiently.\u00a0\u201cYou can be the smartest person in the room, but if you can\u2019t effectively communicate or explain\u00a0something, you\u2019re not going to be successful,\u201d said Jason. \u201cIt\u2019s about knowing how to interact with people.\u00a0I\u2019ve worked with Ph.D.\u2019s to someone with only a third-grade education, but we all had to work together in\u00a0order to get a job done.\u201d<br \/>\nThose so-called \u201csoft skills\u201d were picked up in Clemson classrooms, where the two met each other\u00a0through study groups for upper-level undergraduate courses. The couple praise their time at Clemson\u00a0for making them effective engineers today. They especially credit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemson.edu\/cecas\/departments\/peer-wise\/index.html\">PEER program<\/a> for many of their\u00a0successes.<br \/>\n\u201cWe bring engineers and experts from all over the country to do a job, and to be able to relate to each\u00a0of them individually and not just professionally, just to be able to hold a conversation, Clemson was where\u00a0I learned to do that,\u201d said Jason. \u201cI have no doubt it makes me better at my job to be able to relate to people\u00a0and just work with them regardless of where they\u2019re from.\u201d\u00a0Jason and Hesha, despite their busy careers, find the time to be \u201cAll In\u201d raising their five-year-old son,\u00a0Justus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Ensuring the\u00a0health, safety\u00a0and well being\u00a0of others via the\u00a0roads you drive or the\u00a0buildings you enter\u00a0isn\u2019t just a day job\u00a0for Jason and Hesha\u00a0Nesbitt Gamble,\u00a0but a desire they\u2019ve\u00a0each pursued since\u00a0teenagers.
