\"\"The Poes<\/a> are one of the many spirited families that make up the sea of orange and purple at Clemson\u2019s\u00a0Death Valley during football season. Tailgating outside of\u00a0the stadium and clapping along to the beat of \u201cTiger Rag\u201d\u00a0are traditions David and Jade have been participating in\u00a0since they were students. But when the chips and dip\u00a0are gone and the Cadence Count has ended, the couple\u2019s\u00a0alma mater is not forgotten. The Poes\u2019 blood runs orange,\u00a0and they take pride in supporting Clemson in numerous\u00a0ways.
\nA 1994 graduate, David Poe found the University\u2019s\u00a0environment to be the perfect place for him to grow both\u00a0intellectually and socially. He formed lifelong relationships\u00a0through his involvement in many campus organizations\u00a0including Greek life and Student Alumni Council.
\nFor Jade Poe, a 2004 alumna, college was less of a\u00a0certainty. \u201cI was raised by a single mother, so I didn\u2019t\u00a0know if I would be able to afford college. Thanks to\u00a0Clemson\u2019s generous alumni, I received a scholarship and\u00a0was the first in my family to graduate from college,\u201d she\u00a0said. \u201cClemson was more than the friendships I made and\u00a0the football games. It was an opportunity I didn\u2019t think I would have.\u201d
\nIt is important to the Poes that they do their part to provide future Tigers the same memorable\u00a0experience they had as students. Not only does the couple support the Clemson Forever Fund annually,\u00a0they have also included the University in their will. \u201cClemson was founded based on a gift from Thomas\u00a0Green Clemson. I think it is neat that we can contribute to Clemson using the same method, and it is a\u00a0great way to make Clemson part of our legacy,\u201d said David Poe.
\n\u201cI was able to attend Clemson because of the scholarships I received, and donating allows me to give\u00a0that same opportunity to students who were in my position. Knowing that my donation can help students\u00a0continue their education so they can have a successful career is very rewarding,\u201d said Jade.<\/p>\n
