She moved to Hartsville in 1959 with\u00a0her family. Only a few years later her husband died, leaving her the single\u00a0parent of five children, two of whom, Bob and Dan, were students at\u00a0Clemson.<br \/>\nDan\u2019s roommate at Clemson, Goz Segars, also from Hartsville,\u00a0remembers how much respect everyone had for Sue and for how\u00a0she held the family together in difficult times. Almost 50 years later,\u00a0Sue Stanzione\u2019s name now graces the Distinguished Professorship of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemson.edu\/education\/culife\/\">ClemsonLIFE<\/a>, held by its founder and executive director, Joe Ryan. That\u00a0professorship, made possible thanks to a generous gift by Bob and Kaye\u00a0Stanzione, will make a difference in the lives of countless generations of\u00a0ClemsonLIFE students.<br \/>\nClemsonLIFE (Learning is for Everyone) allows students with special needs the opportunity to attend\u00a0Clemson and receive the full college experience while learning the skills to lead independent lives. As\u00a0President Clements said, \u201cWhat ClemsonLIFE does for its students is simply remarkable, and it is the\u00a0embodiment of the very best nature of the Clemson family.\u201d<br \/>\nBob and Kaye Stanzione began their married life in campus housing, and all three of their children\u00a0attended Clemson. A 1969 graduate, Bob is executive chair of ARRIS Group, a global communications\u00a0technology leader.
