He established the William B. Thayer \u201952 Quasi-Endowment for Excellence, designated for Clemson\u2019s areas of greatest need.<br \/>\nClemson\u2019s Legacy Day was started in 2009 to recognize the fact that Clemson was founded by an act of philanthropy by Anna and Thomas Green Clemson.
