Life-Changing Moments

Clemson University is full of life-changing moments for our students, faculty, staff, alumni and campus communities. It’s amazing how quickly these moments go by when you’re having the time of your life. When I reflect on my time here at Clemson, these past 10 years are full of thousands of individual moments that have brought joy, celebration and hope, and they have transformed the lives of people at Clemson, across the state of South Carolina and beyond.

This issue of Clemson World captures just a few of the life-changing moments our Clemson Tigers have experienced. It also showcases the strength of our research alongside the collective talents of our people.

You’ll meet Christian Walker, a Georgia-born musician who was led here by his gift for piano. Christian’s journey reveals incredible perseverance for perfecting his craft, and the connection that he and his family have made with music professor Linda Li-Bleuel is a warm reminder of what it means to be part of the Clemson Family.

You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the impressive computer graphics design work happening on televisions and movie screens across the country thanks to a unique piece of equipment that belongs to Clemson. The interdisciplinary collaborations around this technology are connecting digital production arts and computer science students in truly exciting ways.

You’ll also meet an associate professor of mechanical engineering and bioengineering, Ethan Kung. His desire to find the best treatment plan for his father’s coronary obstruction parallels his work with an international community of biomedical researchers who are bringing clinicians and industry together to create better heart treatments for everyone. Kung is making a difference at Clemson and all around the world, and you’ll get to learn about him, his students and their biomedical discoveries.

As you spend time in the pages of the winter issue of our University magazine, I hope you reflect on some of your exciting experiences at Clemson. And I hope you continue to make new memories with your family and friends whenever you return home to Clemson.

Until then, I wish you all the best. Thank you for being a part of the Clemson Family — and go Tigers!
