France: Bryan Hamby ’10 perused the Christmas markets in Strasbourg, enjoying vin chaud (mulled wine) and the festive scenery. Arizona: Sam Tunney ’23 and Bridget Tunney ’21 visited the Grand Canyon over winter break 2021. They made this snowman on the day of the Cheez-It Bowl to cheer on Clemson Football against Iowa State! Go Tigers!” Florida: Jeff Hutto ’99 and his wife, Jess, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Islamorada. Iceland: Clarke ’83, Kathy Unger ’84 Moore and Roy and Kathy Watkins (P ’07, P ’11) — Clemson Football tailgating buddies — traveled to Reykjavík and toured an area of the country known as the Golden Circle. Nepal: Helen Coker “Cokie” Cox ’95 summited the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, on May 23, 2021, becoming one of only 653 women in the world to have done so. Cox spent over two years training for this endeavor and raising $1 million dollars for cancer awareness, funding a brand-new mobile health unit with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, which makes health screenings accessible in rural parts of South Carolina. France: Michael Kay ’95 works as a special effects engineer in the movie industry. He visited Paris on location, and proudly displayed his Tiger Rag. Florida: Cristina Shorts ’11 sat on the 31-degree banked surface of the Daytona International Speedway ahead of the 64th running of the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. United Kingdom: Sean Cleverdon ’20 visited the magnificent York Minister in North Yorkshire, which was “part of a trip visiting his little brother, who is attending a university and a soccer academy there in York." Iceland: Kyle Player ’08, M ’10, Sabra Harrison ’09, Yianna Kappas ’09 and Hannah Arndt ’18 recently visited the Sólheimajökull Glacier. Dominican Republic: Julia Jackson Davis ’71 spent Christmas vacation with her grandchildren Ella and Maggie Davis at the Punta Cana Majestic Elegance Resort. “Beautiful weather and great food,” Julia wrote. “Watched the Cheez-It Bowl in Spanish with English audio through clemsontigers.com.” Barbados: John J. Evans ’01, M ’03, Ph.D. ’18, Paulette J. Evans, ’01, Ed.D. ’21 and Rondell A. Lee ’05 ventured into Harrison’s Cave, a limestone cave in the parish of St. Thomas, on their trip to Barbados.
