Col. Beverly “Ben” Skardon ’38 passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at the age of 104, days after being informed of the approval of his honorary promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Decorated war veteran and survivor of the Bataan Death March, he taught English at Clemson for more than 20 years after his retirement from the military.

    I had the privilege and honor to have had Col Skardon as my English Professor when I returned to Clemson after my stint in the Army. He was such the gentleman
    and wanted desperately for you to learn, understand and love the the English he taught so well. You will be missed by so many!
