Between August 1975 and May 2023, the bowling alley in the Edgar A. Brown University Union served as a unique recreational outlet for students, faculty and staff. The second bowling alley on the Clemson University main campus (the first operated in the basement of Holtzendorff Hall from 1916 to 1939), the new alley remained a feature as plans for a student union building went through many revisions. Part of the Union, Johnstone Hall and Harcombe Dining Hall demolition that is currently underway, the last vestiges of the alley are two bowling balls and pins, preserved in the Special Collections and Archives.
