Honorees receive special recognition for steadfast commitment

Max Allen HA ’25

Since joining Clemson University in 2015, Max Allen has consistently gone above and beyond in his service to the University, earning him the designation of Honorary Alumnus from the Clemson Alumni Association. This special recognition is reserved for unwavering supporters whose passion for the University is undeniable even though they never officially attended Clemson. A retired Navy lieutenant commander, Allen serves as the senior vice president and chief of staff for the University. He has stepped into various leadership roles as needed, making significant contributions to the institution’s growth and success. Additionally, he oversees the President’s Leadership Circle Fund, which assists undergraduate students experiencing financial hardships with support in finishing their Clemson degree. Allen also created, planned, developed and directed the opening of the Brook T. Smith Launchpad, Clemson’s entrepreneurship hub for faculty, staff and students.

Amy Yoder HA ’24

Amy Yoder, who’s earned the designation of Honorary Alumna of Clemson University from the Clemson Alumni Association, is a sixth-generation farmer who has worked in the agricultural industry for more than 20 years. Currently the executive vice president of Farmers Business Network leading the livestock division, Yoder’s commitment to Clemson began when her daughter chose the University for her education. Yoder was asked to join the Clemson University Foundation board of directors, and her commitment has extended beyond the boardroom and into the classroom. She has served as a judge for the College of Science’s Catalyst Competition and is a College of Science general endowment contributor. She was a major contributor to the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex athletic facilities, expressing her interest in ensuring Clemson students have a state-of-the-art intramural complex. As a member of the Clemson Athletics capital campaign cabinet, Yoder is also an avid supporter of the women’s athletics program, especially focusing on women’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics.

Dr. Steven Martin HA ’24

In addition to being an orthopedic surgeon at Blue Ridge Orthopedics in Seneca, South Carolina, Dr. Steven Martin, recognized by the Clemson Alumni Association as an Honorary Alumnus of Clemson University, is a clinical instructor for Prisma Orthopedic Surgery Residency and an adjunct professor in Clemson’s Department of Bioengineering, where he also serves as a mentor for senior capstone design projects. Martin is a critical supporter of CUBEInC, Clemson’s Biomedical Engineering Innovation Campus, an ecosystem intended to integrate experiential education, research and clinical immersion to allow for the innovation of medical technologies. He is also a lead collaborator in developing a future Clemson program focused on connecting health science, nursing, bioengineering and business programs to focus on interprofessional care for efficient, patient-centered health care delivery. Additionally, Martin has supported Clemson student-athletes for over 30 years as head orthopedic surgeon for Clemson Athletics.
