Middle Georgia among the additions to network of clubs
The Clemson Alumni Association has broadened alumni connections and engagement by forming new Clemson clubs, bringing the number of existing clubs and affinity groups to more than 70 nationwide. One of the newest additions is the Middle Georgia Clemson Club.
Launched at the start of the year, the Middle Georgia Clemson Club serves alumni, fans, friends and family in the Peach State cities of Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Milledgeville, Griffin and Forsyth. The club kicked things off with a networking event in February, which drew more than 30 alumni from the area.

“It was an overwhelming success,” club president Jordan Josey ’13 said. “I would’ve been thrilled if we had a dozen people show up, and we about tripled that. Everybody’s really pumped about continuing to grow the club.”
The club engaged with the local community during the spring by setting up a tent at the annual Magnolia Soap Box Derby in Macon. More events are in the works, including a football watch party this fall. But providing a network of connection for alumni and their families is just part of the club’s mission.
The club has started a scholarship fund for students from its service area interested in attending Clemson. Thanks in part to donations received at the kickoff event, the club has already funded one scholarship and hopes to fund more. The club also plans to engage in further philanthropic outreach by supporting regional charities.
“That’s got to be the mission of this club. People getting together to watch Clemson sports is great, but this can be more than that,” Josey said. “I’m very pleased that we’re all working as hard as we’re working to make it happen.”
