2022 Golden Tiger Reunion

On June 9-10, more than 600 alumni gathered at the Clemson Madren Center to celebrate the Classes of 1970, 1971 and 1972, inducting them into the Golden Tiger Society. During the festivities, the Golden Tigers reunited with former classmates and enjoyed a welcome reception, Clemson Family Luncheon, campus tours and finally, a Class Party to cap off the event.

The Golden Tiger Reunion is an annual event for all alumni who have previously been inducted into the Golden Tiger Society and the newest 50th reunion class.

Celebrating the Class of 1968

This year’s Golden Tiger Reunion focused its attention on the 50th reunion class, 1968. Each member of the class of ’68 was inducted into the Golden Tiger Society and presented with a lapel pin and certificate by Unviersity President Jim Clements, Alumni Association Executive Director Wil Brasington and Alumni Association Board President Sandy Edge. The Tiger mascot also joined in on the festivities.

In total, more than 340 guests from the classes of 1938 to 1969 returned to Clemson to enjoy a variety of celebrations and activities, including a University update from President Clements, tours of the new Douthit Hills facility and athletics venues, updates from each of the seven colleges and a special presentation by Clemson’s new admissions director, David Kuskowski.

Golden Tiger Class of 1968 raises $1 million for ROTC scholarships

The class of 1968 marked its 50th anniversary in June with a reunion celebration on campus and the announcement of a $1 million gift to Clemson’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program and scholarships for Clemson students.

“A gift of more than $1 million is an amazing gift,” said Clemson President Jim Clements. “I can tell you that it is a powerful, life-changing gift. You were students during a time of great change on our campus and in this nation. In the 50 years since then, you have witnessed many things and helped Clemson and the entire country improve, grow strong and lead. Now, you are adding to the already impressive legacy of the Class of 1968.”

Jerry Trapnell, Class of 1968 Golden Anniversary chair, said he was honored to be part of the reunion planning committee and to lead the class project. “As our committee reflected on our time at Clemson and the subsequent careers so many of our classmates led that were made possible by their Clemson degree,” he said, “it became very clear that our focus must be on reinforcing the top priority of supporting students in attending Clemson.”

Since graduating, the Class of 1968 has given more than $17 million for University programs.

Class of 1967 inducted as Golden Tigers

Golden TigersTigers celebrating more than 50 years since graduating returned to campus for reunion this year. Members of the Class of ’67, plus representatives of 19 other Golden Tiger classes, gathered for meals and memories at the Madren Center. Tours of campus, class parties and updates on construction and future Clemson initiatives provided opportunities to reminisce about the Clemson experience, then and now.
At the induction of the 76 members of the Class of ’67 into the Golden Tiger Society, the class presented the University with a gift of more than $336,000 for need-based scholarships, scholarships for first-generation students and resources for student veterans.
Next year’s Golden Tiger Reunion is scheduled for June 7-8, 2018. If you graduated in 1968 or earlier, mark your calendar now!
